A Comprehensive, Coordinated Approach to Healing
At The Buddha's Medicine, we bring together a breadth of healing modalities that few clinics can offer — all under one roof, all working in concert with each other. Our services span medical care, mental health therapy, massage therapy and bodywork, lifestyle coaching, and professional education. It isn't just the range of what we offer that is meaningful, but the way it all connects, too. Your physician, therapist, massage therapist, and lifestyle coach can communicate and coordinate to promote your well-being, offering you a care experience that is genuinely integrated.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the foundation of everything we do. Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is a complete medical science that views each person as a unique individual and treats the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — rather than isolated symptoms and individual diagnoses. Dr. Matt has been a student of Ayurveda since 2009, studying extensively with Vaidya Vasudha Gupta of American Ayurveda. At The Buddha's Medicine, Ayurveda isn't a wellness add-on; it is the lens through which all of our medical care is delivered.
Plant-Based Medicine
The scope of practice for our plant-based patients is rather complete — there is virtually nothing that we cannot treat with a plant-based approach that might be treated otherwise. Ayurveda and plant-based living couple naturally together, rooted in millennia of tradition. At The Buddha's Medicine, this means we can support both our omnivorous friends and those who live plant-based and place emphasis on healing plant-based foods, herbs, and remedies — while never pushing anyone into a lifestyle that isn't right for them.
Massage Therapy & Bodywork
Our team of Licensed Massage Therapists offers a full spectrum of therapeutic bodywork — from Swedish and deep tissue to neuromuscular therapy, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, Shiatsu, table Thai massage, sports and injury massage, pregnancy massage, lymphatic massage, reflexology, cupping, and Reiki. Massage therapy at The Buddha's Medicine isn't a standalone spa experience; it's part of an integrative healing environment where bodywork can be coordinated with medical care and mental health therapy for truly comprehensive support.
Ayurvedic Treatments / Therapies
Our LMTs also offer traditional Ayurvedic bodywork therapies under Dr. Matt's guidance — including Shirodhara (warm oil poured gently over the forehead for deep nervous system calm), Abhyanga (warm oil massage), Kati Basti (localized warm oil therapy for chronic back pain), and Garshana (dry silk glove brushing to activate lymphatic flow). These treatments offer our community an additional dimension of care rooted in thousands of years of Ayurvedic healing tradition.
Counterstrain & Manual Therapy
Dr. Matt blends fascial counterstrain and Ayurvedic marma treatment into a comprehensive hands-on treatment approach. Marma chikitsa is a traditional Ayurvedic technique that utilizes established pressure points to treat pain and dysfunction. Counterstrain is an osteopathic technique that uses reflex diagnostics to locate the true sources of pain, then employs gentle repositioning and tissue glides to release tissues from strain and pain cycles. Dr. Matt has trained extensively in Counterstrain Therapy through The Jones Institute.
clinical hypnosis
Clinical hypnosis is an evidence-based, mind-body healing modality that harnesses the innate power of the subconscious mind. As a licensed physician and clinical hypnotherapist trained through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), Dr. Matt integrates hypnotherapy alongside Ayurvedic, lifestyle, and integrative medicine. This powerful modality supports care for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, insomnia, trauma, phobias, habit change, and much more.
